Happy New Year!! I pray your new year is blessed; full of life, love and laughter!

Often the new year is a time when we start fresh, make resolutions to do or not do things, and try to get a vision for what we want the rest of the year to look like. I love this, because it's like a yearly renewal of hope for so much of the world.

A close friend of mine shared this scripture with me recently, and I thought it was a perfect encouragement for the new year.

"And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

John 1:76-79

This is a prophesy from Zechariah over his new son, whom we know as John The Baptist. It's easy to look at this passage and only learn more about John and his role, but the truth is that this scripture says A LOT about Jesus.

One of my favorite portions says "the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness." That means Jesus is literally our sunrise. In our darkness, night, and chaos, He comes in and is our light.

So what areas of your life have you not allowed Jesus to shine in? What areas feel dark or chaotic? Allow Him to be your sunrise this new year!

Here's to a bright future for you in 2019!
