Top 10 Books of 2018

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

If you know me well, you'd know that I love reading. So as we're coming into Christmas and approaching the end of the year, I figured I'd take the time to share with you some of my favorite books of 2018. These books would make amazing Christmas presents for friends and family, or a book from this list could be that one gift you buy for yourself. Either way... check 'em out!

1. Kill The Spider - Carlos Whittaker

One of the best books I've ever read in my life. I don't know that my words would even really do it justice but, if you're looking for a Christian Life book that will actually change your life, this is it!

2. Capital Gaines - Chip Gaines

Most people recognize the name as Chip and Joanna Gaines, the stars of HGTV's Fixer Upper. This is Chip's book sub-titled "Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff," and does not disappoint. Capital Gaines is a business book great for entrepreneurs, visionaries, and idealists, but it's also so much more. This is the type of book that lights a fire in your belly to go out and make a difference in the world and my favorite part is, it's unashamedly Jesus-loving.

3. Traveling Light - Max Lucado

I led a church connect group where we went through this book. It is amazing the inner healing the guys in my connect group experienced as they learned to release the burdens they were never intended to bear. This is a spiritual guidance book that is uniquely challenging and comforting at the same time. I recommend everyone on earth read this one!

4. Extravagant Worship - Darlene Zschech

One of my favorite books of all time! My friends know that Darlene Zschech is one of my role models and heroes, and this book has taught me so much about worship. I read it for the first time about 5 years ago, but re-read it every year because I'm so deeply moved by the way Darlene writes about the heart of worship.

5. Wild At Heart - John Eldredge

This is a book that set me free to really live out the things that I love, even things like this blog! It's a men's book, written to help men unlock the parts of their hearts that lay dormant, just waiting to be awakened. I highly recommend this to any man yearning to discover more about his purpose.

6. Messy Grace - Caleb Kaltenbach

There are many problems that Christians face today, and one of the biggest is how to love people who are different than us. I believe, as a whole, we could do much better at building relationships with people different from us and this book is a guide for how to do that. If you want to be stretched and challenged, as well as read a powerful life story, this is the book for you.
